Dear Parents,

I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL in our classroom this year. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited math and English language arts across thousands of skills—all of which are aligned to the provincial curriculum. One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child’s progress!

To get your child started on your home computer, please follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to https://www.ixl.com

  1. Enter your child’s username and password and click “Sign in.”
(Note: If the username and password are not listed below, they will be provided separately.)

Password_____________________

  1. Click on any skill to start learning!

IXL is designed to help your child learn at his or her own pace. The program is adaptive and will adjust based on your child’s demonstrated understanding of the material. All of your child’s results will be saved, so you can monitor his or her progress anytime by clicking on Analytics. For on-the-go practice, you can download IXL’s free tablet apps for iPad, Android, or Kindle and sign in with your child’s username and password.

I hope you’ll encourage your son or daughter to use IXL regularly. Here’s to a year of working together to make learning fun for your child!

Sincerely,

HFam

Spoiler Alert

Spoiler Alert:
Hello All,

I trust everyone is managing in the quarentine. We are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel…

With Mothers Day approaching I wanted to still honour all you beautiful moms out there who are triple dutying with being a mom, my supply teacher and holding down your own jobs or personal lives. Kudos.

To honour you ladies, I wanted to continue my tradition of making the mommy hand and foot scrub. I have made arrangements for you to pick up your jar at the home of one of the students’ classmates who lives near the school. We will practice social distancing.

Please send me an email by 3pm Friday May 1st if you are interested and able to pick it up this Sunday May 3rd at 10am to 11am.

When you email me, I will send you the address for pick up along with our social distancing instructions so we all stay safe!

Thank you
HFam

Update April 23 2020

Good Morning Parents!

Hope you are all doing well, don’t know if you are like me, but I have had it with this quarantine, and I am about to go nuts in my house hahaha!

Nevertheless we trudge on, hopefully you are all keeping well, drinking lots of water, and getting some rest and exercise.

I just wanted to reach out for a couple of things:

  1. I am preparing a little gift for all the wonderful Moms out there for Mother’s day, but I need to figure out how to get it to you all…
  2. If you need to reach out to me or if your child needs a pep talk to get back on track I would be happy to help. Just email me and we can set up a time stella.pistore-harrison@tcdsb.org
  3. We should be getting some direction this week from my favourite politician Lecce on the school year. (LOL)

Other than that, keep on your kids and well, you are doing great as my supply teacher. Keep it up you are a great teacher!  Remember you are your child’s first teacher, so you have it in you to do what you need to. Also remember that you are doing your best, and we all have those days where you might not feel adequate, you are allowed, don’t be so hard on yourself there is a lot happening these days, know that you are doing great, and I am thankful to work with you during all of this.

Blessings,

HFam

Morning Video Call 11am on Google Classroom

Good Morning!

We are going to try a Google Meet at 11am this morning. If you are using a lap top you can just do it from the Google Classroom. It is a new component to the app therefore, you may need to run an update, and change the settings to turn on the video capability. It is the safest way for us to video because only the people in the TCDSB and google classroom will be allowed in.

I hope this helps and we can all get online today.

Parents, do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions of concerns. Keep your kids at their work and they are to submit only the tasks I assign with a due date. Otherwise, check they completed it as I can only assess a certain amount of work before my brain explodes in this new model lol

Thank you for your support and feedback during this time.

xoxo
